Description: Patrolman Tompkins was shot and killed while transporting a prisoner to jail for disorderly conduct. Patrolman Tompkins was driving back to headquarters when the suspect pulled a concealed weapon and shot him. The suspect fled but was later apprehended by law enforcement officers. The suspect was convicted of murder, sentenced to death, and executed.
