Description: Trooper Thyfault and Trooper Clinton Rushing were struck by a vehicle fleeing from officers while at the scene of an unrelated vehicle crash. Trooper Rushing deployed spike sticks upon notification of a police chase headed in their direction. The suspect swerved left, striking Trooper Rushing who was running away from the vehicle. The suspect swerved right, striking Trooper Thyfault. Trooper Rushing survived his injuries. Trooper Thyfault died at the scene. The suspect was arrested.
