Description: Sheriff Thompson was accidentally shot as he attempted to arrest a man for assault. A gunfight ensued between the Sheriff, Deputy Crozier and the suspect when Sheriff Thompson was caught in the crossfire and shot by his deputy. Sheriff Thompson died of his injuries the next day. The suspect was arrested and charged with murder. Friendly fire.
