Description: Patrolman Underwood and Officer D.W. Smith responded to a disturbance call at a local caf?. While the officers attempted to arrest a suspect for intoxication, the crowd gathered around both officers and attacked them. Patrolman Underwood was struck in the back of his head with a blunt instrument. He was taken to the local hospital where he died the next day. Officer Smith was treated and released with minor injuries.
