Description: Officer VanderJagt was killed while trying to capture a burglary suspect that he and officers from other agencies had chased for 30 miles. Officer VanderJagt was shot and killed as he approached the apartment building in which the suspect was hiding. This incident was classified as a hate crime perpetrated by skinheads. The suspect committed suicide with Officer VanderJagt's service revolver.
