Description: Trooper Vazquez was struck and killed by a drunk driver while conducting a traffic stop on I-270 in Columbus, Ohio. Trooper Vazquez was standing outside of his vehicle when his cruiser was struck from behind. He died two hours later at a local hospital. The driver who struck Trooper Vazquez had been convicted of drunken driving in 1994. His blood-alcohol level at the time of the accident was 0.43 percent. In Ohio, a person is considered to be drunk with a blood-alcohol level of 0.10 percent. The suspect was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide.
