The suspect identified fellow perpetrators and stated that their intent was to commit acts of violence against Police Officers and Police facilities. Five suspects were found guilty of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. On May 31, 1973, one of the five suspects, with the help of another inmate, stabbed and killed Warden Patrick Curran and Deputy Warden Robert Fromhold at the Holmesburg prison. The inmate who participated in the attack was also serving a life sentence for the murder of Patrolman Joseph Kelly.
