Description: Corporal Valent was shot after he apprehended three burglary suspects and placed them in the rear seat of his police cruiser. One of the suspects pulled a concealed weapon and fatally shot Corporal Valent as he drove them to the barracks. His assailant was killed in an exchange of gunfire with officers. The other two suspects pled guilty to second degree murder and were sentenced to 5-20 years in prison.
