Description: Marshal Van Doren responded to a call where an intoxicated and disorderly citizen was causing a disturbance. While attempting to arrest the suspect a fight ensued and Marshal Van Doren was knocked to the ground. When Marshal Van Doren attempted to get up, the suspect produced a revolver and shot him in the head. The suspect was held by local citizens and later charged with murder of the Town Marshal.
