Description: Sergeant Van Horn, along with other officers and firefighters, responded to a toxic chemical fire in 1987. None were issued protective clothing and were exposed to toxic chemicals. Sergeant Van Horn coordinated traffic control and evacuation at the scene. He died ten years later from leukemia directly related to his exposure.
