Description: Border Patrol Agent Vega, while off duty, was fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire with two robbery suspects. Agent Vega was fishing in Willacy County, Texas with his wife, sons and parents when they were attacked by two armed suspects. Agent Vega fought back, pulled a gun and fired. His parents also shot at the fleeing suspects. Agent Vega died at the scene. Agent Vega's father was also shot but survived his injuries. The suspects, who were illegal immigrants, were convicted of murder.
