Description: Lieutenant Weatherford was shot and killed after he responded to a vehicle break-in with theft. Lieutenant Weatherford located the suspect and engaged in a brief foot pursuit when the suspect fled. The suspect exited a yard and fired at officers while running away and Lieutenant Weatherford was shot. Lieutenant Weatherford was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The suspect was arrested several days later and charged with Capital Murder.
