Description: Deputy Sheriff Wallace suffered a heart attack while participating in the annual physical fitness assessment administered by the department. During the assessment, Deputy Wallace completed 20 push-ups, 19 sit-ups, 1 bench press of 95 pounds and a 100 meter dash in under 20 seconds. Deputy Wallace began a one mile run at 9:00 a.m. and collapsed ten minutes later. Other deputies on the scene performed CPR. Deputy Wallace was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
