Description: Deputy Sheriff Womack was on a tax collection tour in the county when he encountered a suspect wanted for stealing a horse. As Deputy Womack attempted to arrest the suspect on an open warrant, the suspect produced a pistol from his belt and fatally shot Deputy Womack in the head.
