Description: Night Officer Winkelmann was walking his beat when he was shot in the neck by an unknown assailant in an ambush attack. Officer Winkelmann was found lying in the middle of the street in a semi-conscious state with his revolver still in its holster. Officer Winkelmann was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries the next day.
