Description: Deputy Wight arrested several striking laborers who were causing a drunken, public disturbance and placed them in a temporary jail. Friends of the arrested men went to the small holding pen, tipped it over and freed them. Deputy Wight stepped outside to see what was going on and was shot in the thigh. Deputy Wight was taken to the hospital but died before surgery.
