Description: Deputy Sheriff Willis was fatally shot as he and the jailer were transporting a prisoner from the county jail. The prisoner pulled a concealed weapon and shot Deputy Willis in the chest. The two men responsible for delivering the gun to the prisoner were each sentenced to 15 years in prison. The prisoner was convicted of murder and executed in the electric chair.
