Description: On May 23, 2003, Deputy Sheriff Wargo was thrown from a truck at a high rate of speed while working a department sanctioned security job at a grocery store. Deputy Wargo approached a suspect identified in relation to a theft from the store. When Deputy Wargo ordered the suspect to stop, the suspect attempted to flee the scene while the deputy was holding onto the vehicle. Deputy Wargo was thrown to the pavement and suffered multiple skull fractures and severe brain injuries. Deputy Wargo died on May 1, 2012 as a result of those injuries. The suspect was sentenced to 15 years in jail.
