Description: Deputy Sheriff Wood was shot when he and fellow deputies went to a residence to assist a ranger enforce the stock-dipping ordinance. An argument between the family and the lawmen escalated to a scuffle and shots were fired. One of the men went inside the house, retrieved a revolver and fatally shot Deputy Wood. Although the suspect was convicted of murder in a court of law, he was lynched by an angry mob.
