Description: Marshal White was sent to nearby Arlington to arrest a suspect for stealing a horse. While transporting the suspect to the jail in Fort Worth, Marshal White was ambushed by three men who were friends of the suspect. A shootout ensued and Marshal White was fatally shot in the abdomen and groin. Marshal White fatally shot one of his assailants and wounded another. Marshal White succumbed to his injuries one week later in a local hospital.
