Description: Officer Winters had arrested a man for public intoxication following a traffic accident and was transporting him to jail. The suspect, who was handcuffed in the backseat of the police car, shot Officer Winters five times in the back of his head. Officer Winters died 11 days later. His assailant was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death.
