Description: Sheriff Winters was shot as he attempted to serve a warrant. Sheriff Winters died of his injuries the next day. The suspect was arrested but was taken from the jail and lynched by an angry mob. The suspect's mother was convicted of aiding and abetting the crime and sentenced to life in prison.
