Description: Deputy Webb and Kingsport Police Officer John Smith were shot while by a suspect while attempting to serve a warrant for first degree murder. The suspect was wanted for the murder of Deputy Murdoch McIntosh. Deputy Webb was shot in the head and neck with a .38 caliber handgun. Officer Smith was shot in the chest. Both lawmen died at the scene. A third officer, George Frazier, was also shot but survived. The suspect was convicted of first degree murder.
