Description: Inspector Wallen was killed in Val Verde, Texas in an exchange of gunfire with a gang of rum-runners. Inspector Wallen was shot in the chest as he attempted to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked near the Mexican border. Inspector Wallen is the grandfather of U.S. Customs Inspector Richard Latham (Panel 38-E: 8).
