Description: Deputy Wilson was shot and killed as he and other officers pursued four suspects for robbing a bank in Elgin, Oklahoma. Officers from four jurisdictions had trailed the suspects eleven miles outside of the city before the suspects took cover in a farmhouse. Deputy Wilson, Comanche County Deputy Sheriff Eldon Bailey, and Grady County Sheriff Hodge Bailey, entered the farmhouse to search for the suspects. A hail of gunfire rang out for at least three minutes before the other law enforcement officers stormed the house. Deputy Sheriff Wilson was found dead on the floor with more than fifteen gunshot wounds to his body. Deputies Eldon Bailey and Hodge Bailey were both wounded. Although the suspects were armed with shotguns, machine guns, and pistols, law enforcement officers arrested all four bank robbery suspects.
