Description: Deputy Sheriff White had just arrested an escapee from the Texas State Prison. While en route to Ellis County, the suspect pulled a pistol that was hidden in his clothing and shot Deputy White in the neck. The squad car ran off the road into a ditch. Deputy White was transported to a local hospital where he died on the way to surgery.
