Description: Patrolman Wheeler was killed in an automobile accident after a suspect driver rear-ended his department vehicle. Officer Wheeler was running radar on Interstate Loop 410 as the vehicle approached at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle struck the rear of the patrol car causing both vehicles to burst into flame on impact. Patrolman Wheeler was unable to exit his vehicle in time. Patrolman Wheeler and the suspect driver died at the scene.
