Description: On June 9, 1902, Correctional Officers Bailey Tiffany, S. Thurston Jones and Frank Ferrell of the Oregon Department of Corrections, were shot and killed by an inmate as he escaped from the Oregon State Penitentiary. During an ambush on July 3, 1902, in King County, Washington, the suspect shot and killed Everett Police Detective Charles Raymond and mortally wounded King County Deputy John Williams, who died eight months later. King County Posseman Neil Rowley and Seattle Police Officer Enoch Breece were killed in a shootout with the suspect while attempting to arrest him later that same day. On August 6, 1902, the suspect committed suicide after being wounded during a shootout with law enforcement officers.
