Description: Officer Westlake was shot while responding to shots fired down the street from headquarters. When Officer Westlake and Officer John Wright arrived at the scene, they came upon two soldiers. As the officers approached the soldiers, they were fired upon. A bullet grazed Officer Wright's temple while a second shot struck Officer Westlake in the abdomen. Both suspects were arrested. Officer Westlake was transported to the hospital where he died five days later.
