Description: Constable Wood was shot as he and Constable J. Gibson arrested a patron at a dance for unruly behavior and carrying a pistol. The man grabbed Constable Gibson's weapon, a struggle ensued and the gun discharged. Constable Wood was fatally shot in the abdomen and died at the scene. His assailant was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
