Description: Deputy Lee Wright and two fellow deputies attempted to stop a car carrying kidnapping suspects and their hostage, Pinal County Deputy Joe Chapman. During a gunfight at a roadblock, Deputy Chapman was wounded, but he survived. The shots that struck Deputy Lee Wright proved fatal and he died sixteen days later. The suspects were also wanted for the murder of Pennsylvania Highway Patrolman Brady Paul. The suspects were captured and executed in the electric chair.
