Description: Lieutenant Wiles was killed in a head-on automobile accident on US 176, Calhoun County, South Carolina. The accident occurred when a second vehicle attempted to pass another vehicle on a narrow, two lane bridge. The lead vehicle failed to complete passing another vehicle and crashed head-on into Lieutenant Wiles' patrol cruiser. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
