Description: Deputy Sheriffs Willis and J.W. Edwards accidentally shot the other while searching for a suspect who had fired several shots at a freight train. In the darkness, the deputies mistook each other for the suspect and fired. Deputy Edwards was shot in the abdomen and died at the scene. Deputy Willis, who was shot in the torso and hip, died of his injuries two weeks later on June 13, 1895. Inadvertent Fire.
