Description: Deputy Sheriff Ward was shot and killed while responding to a welfare concern call at a residence. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies encountered the suspect who suddenly opened fire. Deputy Ward and a second deputy were shot in the incident. The deputies returned fire, killing the suspect. The deputies were airlifted to a hospital where Deputy Ward was pronounced dead. The second deputy survived.
