Description: Officer Wissink and members of the Metro Star Task Force were scheduled to fly from Des Moines, Iowa to New Mexico to attend a training class in weapons of mass destruction. While en route to the airport, Officer Wissink was killed in an automobile accident as he tried to avoid large pieces of debris in the road. An off-duty officer witnessed the single-car accident and called emergency services. Officer Wissink was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
