Description: Deputy Wester assisted other lawmen in serving a warrant to a suspect wanted for stealing timber. The suspect opened fire on the officers and a gunfight ensued. Deputy Wester was fatally shot in the heart and leg. The suspect was shot and killed by Deputy Sheriff Rufus Smith.
