Description: Guard Woodroof died of a fractured skull when he fell from the wall of the Virginia State Penitentiary in Richmond. Guard Woodroof was walking up the stairs to the parapet of the outer wall when he stumbled, lost his grip and fell forty feet onto a pile of lumber.
