Description: On March 16, 1886, Deputy Sheriff Walker was attacked and beaten with an axe by a man whose wife had asked Deputy Walker to help her move a few belongings from her home. The wife had filed for divorce from her abusive husband. Deputy Walker did not recover from his injuries and died of blood poisoning a month later on April 22, 1886. His assailant was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
