Description: Deputy Sheriff Ward was shot in an exchange of gunfire by another deputy when Deputy Ward questioned an arrest that the deputy had made. Deputy Ward objected to the arrest of the man due to having a gun because he had deputized the man himself and stated that the man had the right to carry the weapon. Deputy Ward was shot four times and died at the scene.
