Description: Deputy Sheriff West was fatally shot when he went to a residence to investigate a report of an attempted sale of a baby. When Deputy West arrived at the apartment, the male suspect opened the door and shot Deputy West in the chest and fled the scene. The suspect was killed in a shootout with responding officers.
