Description: Deputy Wright was shot five times with a Winchester rifle by two members of the Klu Klux Klan as he was on his way to work. Deputy Wright was actively involved in quelling a Klan war that had erupted in the county and was also responsible for protecting a woman and her son who had been beaten and robbed by the Klan. Deputy Wright was ambushed, shot and died at the scene. The suspects were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Deputy Wright is the father of Deputy William Wright.
