Description: Corrections Sergeant Winters drowned while participating in the department's mandatory dive team training exercises at the Ashokan Reservoir in Ulster County, New York. Sergeant Winters had a heart attack while diving and emergency medical assistance was administered once he was located. Sergeant Winters was unable to be revived and his cause of death was asphyxia due to drowning.
