Description: Deputy U.S. Marshal Wireman and his posse had a group of prisoners in tow in Kentucky when they were accosted by a group of men who demanded that they release the prisoners. The lawmen refused, gunfire was exchanged and two deputies were wounded. Deputy Wireman died several days later from his injuries.
