Description: Chief Wells was shot and critically injured while attempting to arrest two suspects for public drunkenness. After the suspects were released from custody, the suspects returned to the police station and shot Chief Wells in an act of revenge. Chief Wells was transported to the local doctor's home where he remained under the doctor's care until his death five days later.
