Description: Officer Yates and Guardsman Garner were shot as they attempted to arrest a suspicious suspect at the Union Station train depot. While questioning the suspect, the man produced a handgun and fled the scene. Officer Yates and Garner pursued the suspect. Officer Yates was shot in the face and Guardsman Garner was shot in the chest. Officer Yates died a month later from his injuries. Guardsman Garner recovered from his wounds.
