Description: Lieutenant Zaffuto was shot and killed during a bank robbery attempt at the Iberia Bank in Algiers, Louisiana. Lieutenant Zaffuto was working at an off-duty job providing security at the bank when three armed suspects entered the bank and held him at gunpoint. A second police officer was in the rear of the bank and confronted the suspects. Lieutenant Zaffuto was shot fatally in the chest. The second deputy was wounded in the leg but survived.
